Pointy Toes Are Back?!

I am so excited!!!!!!! Pointy toes are back! Flipping through the new ELLE, and there they were sexy, vampy, pointy pumps staring back at me.

For me they never left. I absolutely love pointy toe shoes. Always have, always will. There is something so seductive and sexy about them.

Ladies they make our feet appear slimmer than what they really are. Who doesn't love anything slimming?  Pointy toe stilettos can take any outfit from sad to sexy in seconds. Think Angelina Jolie and Erica Kane. Extra vampy - all you need are red lips. There is something so powerful about the pointy shoes and I'm not sure why. I always feel so strong and assertive in them.

Here's some of my picks for Fall's sexy, seductive, vampy pointy toe trend:
 Pumps

Booties

Slingbacks

Flats

Shoes from top left to bottom right: Kate Spade Lily Suede Pump, Charles David Loge Pump, Stuart Weitzman Naughty Pump, Guess Carrie Stiletto, Lovely People Piper Bootie, Loeffler Randall Electra Cut-Out Bootie, Nine West Digger Bootie, Nine West Maribella Slingback, Enzo Angiolini Jumble Pump, Luxury Rebel Nathalie, MIA Hepburn Skimmer

All of these goodies are available for purchase at endless.com

Vouge 8647 (Cavalli)

Vouge 8647 (Cavalli)
Originally uploaded by daisiduk1

I've been M.I.A. for a while. Between vacation and Summer, I haven't been updating like I should.

Well, I'm back with a review of Vouge 8647 and Just Cavalli Fabric.

I love this dress! I think the color may be a little off for my taste but I like the look of the dress. The pattern was super easy (even for me) and quick to make.

I bought the Just Cavalli fabric from Mood Designer Fabric here in NYC. It is a cotton and lycra blend. The fabric was $20/yd and my first designer fabric ever. I obsessed over cutting it for at least a month or so. The fabric is perfect for draping as it moves so nicely. It looks great at any angle and has lots of flow to it.

I wore this dress out to dinner with Mom for her birthday. She liked it so much, I might have to make one for her.

It feels so good to be back!

Sex Addiction: Sex and the City 2 Review

Not sure where to start...this movie is amazing! The Sex, The City (I love my city!!!!) and of  course the fashion......

If you love magazines, glamour and fashion you will love Sex and the City 2. So much eye candy throughout the movie. The clothes are amazing of course, but the backdrops were styled to a tee! Each scene had the perfect everything that made you want to be there. Sand dunes, beaches, private jets, luxury suites with butler service, Maybachs, cabanas - one Vouge photo shoot after the next.. every detail was styled, even the luggage - I loved the luggage!

The movie had so much "go girl" power in it. I love that the girls are still the same and have so much fun together. The comedic timing is perfect - Miranda and Charlotte discussing the trials of motherhood was hilarious! Samantha, is and always will be a sexy, confident, strong woman - she gets it in!

Loved the gay fabness in the movie! So much fun! Okay let's get to the best part the fashion.....speechless, I mean there are no words for the fashion sensory overload that I've experienced from watching this movie, I loved it, but see for yourself:

Go see the movie... your eyes will thank you!

And, because there are no words here is the Sex and the City trailer which I've watched a trillion times even since watching the movie. Such a dork!

Enjoy!

Happy Cinco De Mayo

What is Cinco de Mayo other than an excuse to drink? Well it is actually the day that the Mexican army defeated French forces at the battle of Puebla  - May 5, 1862.

For me Cinco de Mayo means cheap margaritas! You can get your Cinco De Mayo drink on too, check out the link below for fun hot spots in NYC to celebrate and get drunk.

My good friend and colleague Gretchen created this wonderful map of fabulous shops in NYC that carry fabric, notions and fun stuff for sewers. She is an excellent sewer and my in office style muse. She introduced me to sewing and I have been in love ever since - thank you Gretchen!

If you are in NYC or will be visiting, the shops on this map are wonderful for all things sewing. Please feel free to add some of your favs to the map - Gretchen would love it!

Video Addiction - Why Don't You Love Me?

"Why Don't You Love Me" - Beyoncé from Beyoncé on Vimeo.

Our girl Bey is vintage sexy in this video. The 50's was such a wonderful era full of flattering sexy silhouettes for women.

I love the styling in this video! The clothes, hair and make-up make me wanna play dress up right now. I will definitely be rocking some serious eye make-up this summer inspired by the 50's and Mrs. Carter.

Some patterns to set the mood:

Loves everything retro!

Natural Addiction - Baking Soda

I use baking soda for just about everything. Right now I am singing the praises of baking soda to remove blackheads.

Baking soda is like a dirt vaccum; it just sucks the dirt out and off of anything. I just gave myself a baking soda facial and my skin feels great. It's so soft and smooth! I am blackhead free without using Biore strips. Best of all, the ingredients used to make this mask can be found in your kitchen. All you need is baking soda and water.

How to make the mask:

Mix baking soda and a little bit of water together to form a paste. Rub the paste on your face and let it sit until completely dry. Rinse the mask off and dry the skin.

Repeat this process over time to achieve clear skin as baking soda not only removes blackheads but also keeps acne at bay.

How radiant is your skin now? You will never buy another box of Biore strips again.

Current Addiction Review

Okay so I'm really into natural products to cleanse and moisturize the skin and hair. Most of the mass marketed products for our skin and hair cause the very problem they claim to combat such as dry flaky skin and brittle dry hair. Some of these products contain petroleum, mineral oil and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which can be detrimental to our skin and hair.

My friend and colleague Anna who is an accomplished Chemist and Teacher has developed a fabulous line called Anthesis Organic Skincare. This organic skin care line features delightful whipped body butters which are hand made. These body butters come in several fun flavors such as "Lavender Love". They feature fragrant natural ingredients like Flower Water, Rose Essential Oil and Coconut Oil - yummy!

I have the Aloe & Chamomile which smells like fresh roses. It is so whipped that it looks like cake batter, between the smell and texture I have to stop myself from having a taste - which isn't an issue because it's all natural. Ha!

This is the best moisturizer I've ever used in my life! It feels good on  the skin and keeps your skin's thirst quenched for days. My legs feel sexy and has sheen without feeling greasy. You can use this on all of your body parts.....

If you want to experience Anthesis Organic Skincare you can visit the website here: http://anthesisorganicskincare.com/

You won't regret it!

TGIF

I love Fridays. The day our freedom begins. The last day to get ready for work, the last day to struggle with Trin to get her on her school bus.

With warm weather among us Friday takes on a new definition. It can be the weekend getaway, or if you're lucky Friday can be a day off for several weeks (who is this lucky?!).

Fridays = payday, extravagant lunches, afterwork cocktails with friends to catch up on the juicy tidbits that happened during the week. Friday is the day we get relief and let it all go.....until Monday morning.
My Friday Lunch - Beef Pad See Ew & Thai iced tea at Pongsri in NYC, Delish!

Enjoy your Friday! TGIF.

What are you doing this Friday?

Take Our Children To Work Day 2010

What a day! We had a blast at our TOCTWD. The children learned a lot of cool things and participated in fun, healthy and creative activities. There was roller blading, jump rope, music, arts & crafts, face painting....way too much to list.

My daughter Trin came home with 3 different certificates and 3 gift bags. There was more swag at work today than there is at the pre-oscar parties.

TOCTWD was a success! Trin will blab about this until next year - lucky me.

How was your TOCTWD?
